Poverty Porn
As much as I want to help bring shine a light to the plight of others in my humble attempts of writing and blogging about them, and as much as I want to show photographs or share stories of what they endure so people half way across the world have some realization of what is going on, I honestly just want to show them being resilient as hell. Because that’s how I remember them during my travels. People being resilient and resourceful and not complaining and just honestly getting shit done with no help of ours.
There are people in India studying for major exams all night with generator lights because of power outages.There are girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan fighting for their right to an education. There are young students in Africa leading amazing international relation initiatives. While people are busy feeling bad for them, there are people all over the world taking situations into their own hands and making something out of their lives. They don’t need our pity. Not one bit. They need resources and outlets to hone their ingenuity and talents, talents they cultivated with the most meager of assets and they are slaying their competition left and right.
